It was about time to start this...

This is the way things start: awkwardly. Sloppily. 

My name is Derek Leif. I write a lot. I speak a lot. 

I'd like to make a living at this. 

To make a living at this, I have, after so many years of trying to make a living writing, settled on the following thought:

Out of the billions of people in the world, there may be 100,000 who are fine with giving me a buck each year for the rest of my life. 

If those 100,000 Venmo a dollar @derekleif, then I can keep doing this.

For now, I admit: um...well, there's this entry, and my old writing. Not much. 

What I'm hoping there will be more of is written and spoken words, and have people read them and listen to them. Occasionally, I will have pictures, and drawings from friends. I hope people look at them and like them.
